Wicker Park surrounds Big Start, and the massive sidewalk-facing space features more than 80 seats, which are split into two sides. One provides table service with restaurant’s full menu of tacos and margaritas. The other side has a to-go walk-up window, which is an excellent stop while walking. There is a lot of setting area here, but no food and drink. The Big Star in Chicago is so pet-friendly that even has an Instagram hashtag for its four-legged patrons.


This small Italian restaurant is placed inside of Radisson Blu Aqua hotel, and it features stunning setting for you and your furry friend. It has designed sleek and sheltered sidewalk patio called Lakeshore East. Filini accepts dogs every day, but many visitors say Wednesdays are special. You can treat your dog with a real dog dinner, The Wagging Tail $6, a grilled boneless chicken with carrots, Bad to the Bone $6, a bacon cheeseburger and Lost Me Lucky Charms $5, a perfect portion of meatballs. Hearth & Market

Chicago has one of the best pizzas in the world because mobile pizza-makers have brought their wood-burning ovens here. But now, every Friday your dog can enjoy them as well. You can get breakfast pizza for $17, with sunny chicken or duck eggs when they are available. Jim’s Original

The unique Maxwell Street-style stand located on the University of Illinois at Chicago neighborhood accepts customers 24/7 with a walk-up window only. The restaurant features stainless steel counter for customers and a sidewalk area for your dog. Regardless of what you get, Jim’s Original has excellent food, and it’s a unique environment for your pet.

Mott St

An excellent place with fencing that shields you and your pet from the crowded Ashland Avenue. Mott St will provide you a beautiful and spacious setting for nearly 70 people. This place offers Asian food, in most cases dinner only, but you can enjoy Sunday brunch too.


Nellcote is an excellent dog-friendly sidewalk café that offers you excellent food but at the same time pleasant setting for your dog. Considering it’s an Italian restaurant, you can order pizza, different drinks, and complimentary dog treats. This restaurant has another remarkable feature, a percentage of sold food goes to a nonprofit dog rescue and humanitarian organization. Nellcote will provide you a friendly environment, and you can spend some lovely time enjoying the food, together with your dog.

The Promontory

If you love the aroma of smoking wood, then this place will lure you in. With its dramatic loftlike patio in Hyde Park, this place is perfect to bring your pet. It is entirely sheltered by a deck above, and the restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows which offer you a stunning view, that looks inside bar and dining room. The patio is open and airy and rich in greenery that provides privacy.

The best budget-friendly restaurants in Chicago

This restaurant has two locations, the first one is in the West Loop, and the other one is in Humboldt Park, and they serve authentic Mexican cousin. Here you will have a chance to try cemitas, sandwiches with eggs bread, meat, cheese, and vegetables. Their famous dish is CemitaAtomica, and it will cost you only $11. Here you can try the mixture of Asian cousin and Korean barbeque. For example, the specialty of this restaurant is Sassy Fried Chicken, combined with soy, garlic, and ginger. The half of portion costs $8.95, and the whole is $14.95. If you are looking for something lighter, then you can try Buddha Bowls, marinated vegetables on top of rice and fried eggs. This meal will cost you between $7 and $10, but it’ very delicious and highly requested on their menu.

Fat Johnnie

Fat Johnnie has become a tourist attraction in a windy city. This is a hotdog stand, and anyone can get a taste of old hot dog, but we recommend you to try Johnnie’s Red Hot. The stand is located at 7242 S Western Avenue. It so famous that anyone who comes to Chicago, doesn’t leave until it tries Fat Johnnie hot dogs. If you are feeling a bit adventurous, you can try a Mighty Dog, which combines tamales, chilly sauce, cucumbers, onions, and cheese. Eating here won’t cost you more than a couple of dollars, unlike the food wholesale restaurant food distributors provide.

There are three restaurants that are on the top of my personal list because as a gourmand, I like to experiment and I have found that these three restaurants seem to know exactly what I want. And these are, in fact, the most essential restaurants in this beautiful city and a must check absolutely without any doubts.

The first one that I would like to introduce to you all is Oriole. When we are talking about the finest dining experiences that your senses ever had the pleasure to phantom, this is the place, to begin with for sure. Their 15-course menu, with traditional treats, is not of this world and it will be a real pleasure to enjoy because the kitchen always has a surprise for the guests.

Lula Cafe is one of those places that gives you the feeling that you could stay there forever. And it is completely true when I first went in there, I did not want to leave, at all. This place is what I call the place for everything. Anything off the menu is top notch. Finally, Revival Food Hall is perfect for spending lazy afternoons with the best dishes you could ever imagine.
